Build Your Own Charter

What you want, when you want. 5 hours, 5 days or longer!

Design your own charter to spend all your time doing what you want to do. Spend a day sailing around the spectacular Perth coastline, have a few nights at various bays around Rottnest Island and swim with the Seal Lions at Carnac Island on the way home – or maybe just relax on a sunny day in Thompson Bay. It’s up to you.   Whether you’re new to sailing or an experienced sea dog, there is nothing quite like harnessing the power of the wind and the experience that Capella can offer you.

Capella has all the toys you need for a truly memorable day or weekend away – snorkel gear, a stand-up paddleboard, inflatable island, kayaks, beach cricket, hammock, XL bean bags for lounging around on the bow, and expert local crew who know these waters inside out.  Capella takes up to 38 passengers on day sails and sleeps 10 overnight (5 berths).

Perfect for days out, milestone birthday celebrations, family get togethers.  Spend a weekend hanging out with the kids, Kayaking around the endless bays and beaches, kicking back in the hammock or bean bag with a good book or simply enjoying the serenity of the setting sun over the Indian Ocean and relaxing far away from the sounds of traffic.

Being a catamaran Capella offers this experience with all of the comfort and ease that two hulls allow – That means none of that side to side swaying movement typically leading to sea sickness. Rest assured that if you pop your glass of sparkling down on the table that is precisely where it will stay!

Just let us know your time frame and what you want to get out of your time on Capella and we can provide numerous alternatives for you to decide from. The possibilities are endless……

Some options for your next charter

GUIDED SNORKELING TOURS

Rottnest Island boasts a range of excellent snorkel sites for all weather conditions – from colonial era shipwrecks to amazing limestone sculptures and coral reefs, most of our regular sites are suitable for entry level swimmers and first time snorkellers.

We are also able to cater to any educational requirements the excursion may encompass – several of our crew have studied at university levels in fields such as Environmental Science & Education, Ecotourism and Marine Science and can help you tailor the tour to mix learning with fun.  Divemasters are also available for shore-based excursions on activities such as snorkel trips or to increase the student/teacher supervision ratio.

WHALE WATCHING TOURS

Come and watch the majestic humpback whales as they migrate down the Australian coastline each year between September and November. Capella has a whale interaction licence and is the perfect venue for taking out private school groups. Our salloon is equiped with a TV and makes the perfect floating classroom en-route as we journey off to see these majestic gentle giants frolick in the protected waters of Cockburn Sound.

SAILING TRIPS

Sailing is a unique experience whether you’re an experienced seadog or a first time enthusiast. We offer sail training aboard Capella as an excellent team building and problem solving activity as well as teaching navigation and seamanship skills.

WILDLIFE INTERACTIONS

Rottnest is home to a multitude of marine mammals and seabirds as well as providing a safe haven for many migratory species. Without noisy motors or generators Capella is able to sneak right into the middle of the action giving you an up close and personal experience. See dolphins, whales, seals, sealion and turtles in the water and ospreys, seaeagles and nesting muttonbirds on land.

THE VESSEL

Capella is a 12.5m luxury sailing catamaran designed and built in Western Australia and based in Rottnest Island. She is surveyed to take 38 passengers for day trips and sleep 10 passengers overnight with 2 queen and 3 double berths, full galley, 2 large fridges, 1 large esky/ice box, 2 toilets and 4 showers as well as ample safety gear including life jackets, life rafts, flares and a high speed tender.

She also boasts a large locker of ‘toys’ available free of charge to our passengers such as an inflatable island, stand-up paddle board, 2 x adult kayaks and plenty of snorkel gear. Capella has a lowerable ladder and transom, which means access into and out of the water is a breeze.
